FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions sellers ask us most. If yours isn't here, just give us a call — we're happy to talk it through.
What kinds of coins do you buy?
We buy US coins of all eras, world coins, gold and silver bullion, pre-1965 silver coins, error coins, key dates, full collections, and estate accumulations. If you have it, we likely buy it — call us if you're not sure.
How do you determine the value of my coins?
We look at four things: the coin itself (date, mint mark, type), its condition, current melt value if it's silver or gold, and current collector market value based on recent auction results and dealer trade prices. We explain everything in plain English while we're looking.
Is the appraisal really free?
Yes — completely. There's no charge for the phone call, no charge for the visit, no charge for the appraisal itself. You're only paying us anything if you decide to sell, in which case we're paying you.
Do I have to clean my coins before showing them to you?
Please don't. Cleaning a coin almost always lowers its collector value, sometimes dramatically. Even gentle cleaning leaves microscopic scratches that experienced buyers can spot. Bring them as-is.
How do you pay?
Cash on the spot for smaller amounts. For larger collections we use; cash, zelle, cash app, apple pay, a check or wire transfer, whichever you prefer. You get paid the same visit — no waiting, no consignment.
Where in Southern California do you serve?
We drive to Orange County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, San Diego County. If you're right at the edge of one of those areas, call anyway — we travel for the right collection.
What if I'm not happy with the offer?
You walk away. No pressure, no guilt trip, no "well, since we drove out here…" We'd rather have you keep the coins than feel like you got pushed into a bad deal.
Can I get an offer over the phone or by text/email?
We can give you a rough ballpark over the phone if you can describe what you have, but real offers require seeing the coins in person — condition is too important to guess. For unusual or potentially very valuable pieces, photos by text or email help us prepare.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We're a registered local business, fully insured, and we provide a written receipt with every purchase for your records.
How long does an appraisal take?
A typical visit runs 30 to 60 minutes. Larger or more complex collections — full estates, for example — can take longer. We don't rush, and you shouldn't either.
